Nucleotide sequence of an additional crystal protein gene cloned from Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. thuringiensis.
The nucleotide sequences of 3 homologous crystal protein genes (cry A1,A2,A3) from Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki and subsp. thuringiensis have been reported previously (1, 2, 3, respectively). We report the nucleotide sequence of an additional crystal protein gene {cry hi) from B. thuringiensis subsp. thuringiensis strain HD2 that differs markedly in the aminoterminal region from the 3...

Sau 3A1 partial digestion fragments from Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki HD-1 plasmid DNA were ligated into the BamHI site of the cloning vector pBR322 and transformed into Escherichia coli strain HB101. Colonies presumed to contain recombinant plasmids were screened for production of an antigen that would react with antibody made against B. thuringiensis crystals. One strain, ES12, was is...
متن کاملToxicity and synergism in transgenic Escherichia coli expressing four genes from Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis.
The genes cyt1Aa and p20, encoding, respectively, cytolytic and accessory proteins of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis, were introduced into previously constructed clones expressing cry4Aa and cry11Aa in Escherichia coli (Ben-Dov et al., 1995). Fifteen clones with all possible combinations of the four genes were obtained and found to express the genes included. Two new combinations, pV...
متن کاملAntibacterial activity of Cyt1Aa from Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis.
Cyt1Aa is a delta-endotoxin protein that is produced by Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis. It is a membrane pore-forming toxin that is lethal to insect larvae and is broadly cytolytic to vertebrate as well as invertebrate cells. Cyt1Aa is produced as a protoxin of 27 kDa. Proteolytic activation results in a reduction of the molecular mass to approximately 23-24 kDa and a threefold incre...
متن کاملOral toxicity of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis to adult mosquitoes.
The solubilized entomotoxin of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis killed adult male and female mosquitoes of several genera and of various physiological states when it was administered orally. Adult mosquito mortality was further influenced when the preparation was contained in sucrose solution. The potential implication for the control of adult mosquitoes is discussed.
